In the new edition of Beethoven's Pianoforte Sonatas by Heinrich Schenker, the text has once again been carefully revised. In some doubtful textual cases, it has been necessary to depart from Heinrich Schenker's version. Such deviations are clearly indicated. When, however, our revision clearly led to a new reading, we have changed the text without editorial comment. The fingering remains unaltered. (Erwin Ratz)
